The Statue of Liberty: No trip to the US can be complete without a visit to the Statue of Liberty. The first picture that comes to our mind at the thought of New York is that of the statue of Liberty. The 151 feet high statue is located on the 12 acre Liberty island overlooking the New York harbor. It is located at slightly more than one mile from Lower Manhattan. The only way of visiting the statue of liberty is by the Statue of Liberty – Ellis Island Ferry system, as using private vessels is forbidden. Ground Zero: Another must visit in New York is the site of the dreadful terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, also known as Ground Zero. On this fateful day two passenger planes hijacked by terrorist were rammed in to the twin towers of the World Trade Center, which was a famous landmark of NYC. Both the towers collapsed within a couple of hours killing about 3,000 people. A memorial called ‘Reflecting Absence’ has been erected in the honor of the victims of the September 11 terror attacks. The memorial consists of a field of trees along with the footprints of the twin towers. There is a pool of water filling these footprints and underneath the water the walls bear the names of the victims.

Empire State Building: One of the most recognizable feature of the New York city skyline is the Empire State building.
